Introduction ———————- (4-KANTTURNERINGEN 2025)
I have previously informed you about the venue and dates for the QT25.
I am pleased to inform you that I have now received the attached detailed information on Hotel etc. from Barry Aitken, Forty Club (UK).
As in the past Dansk XL will be represented by a team in the 45-over tournament and a team in the 20-over tournament, where the priority will be that the best (often also the youngest) players participate in the 45-over tournament and the other players participate in the 20-over tournament. It is expected that depending on the number of participants and injuries there will be several overlaps between the teams.
General information
For further detail I refer to the attached document. But in summary the following main information apply:
- The Tournament takes place from Monday 14 – Friday 18 July 2025.
- Venue: Woodbridge SchoolBurkitt Road, Woodbridge, Suffolk IP12 4JH.
- The accommodation is Ufford Park Resort, also known as Ufford Park Hotel, Golf and Spa. It is located on Yarmouth Road, Melton, Woodbridge IP12 1QW, which is 9 minutes or 2.6 miles from Woodbridge School.
Participation and economy
I now ask all of you who wish to participate to send a mail to me no later than by 1 April 2025 confirming that you wish to participate and more specifically in which of the following activities you wish participate:
(i) in the tournament itself. The daily match fee charge per person will be GBP 15, i.e. GBP 75 for the 5-day tournament. As I have understood, this is mandatory even if a player can only play on some of the days.
(ii) in the bad boys’ game on Sunday 13 July 2025. Theo Straten from Holland will be picking this team. I currently do not know if there are any cost related to participation in this game.
(iii) in the TOURNAMENT DINNER. This will be held at Ufford Park in their function room. The initial guesstimate of cost is £46 per head but this is still being negotiated. I very much recommend that as a team we should all participate in this arrangement which is a very important part of the DNA of the tournament.
By 1 April 2025 we will then have the full overview of the number of participants, and we will also know if we are overbooked, which has however not been the case for the past many years. Shortly after 1 April I will communicate the list of participants.
So, if you want to be absolutely sure that we are not overbooked (which I do not expect) you should wait to book hotel and make travel arrangements until your participation is confirmed, i.e. shortly after 1 April 2025.
In any event you must make your own reservation at the hotel and make your own travel arrangements.
Hotel:
All booking information is in the attached word file. It is very much recommended that we all share double rooms as there are only 12 double rooms available per nation. So please find a player to share a room with. The price for a double room is GBP 114 per night, including breakfast (i.e. GBP 57 per person sharing a double room). 25 % must be paid at the time of booking and the remaining 75% must be paid no later than 1 June 2025. The price for a single room is GBP 105 per night, but please don’t book a single room. (Please note that Barry Aitken has confirmed to me that the smaller hotel rates that were listed in the attached word-document are simply incorrect and thus do not apply).
Travel: Stanstead Airport is the closest airport, i.e. approx. 1 hour’s drive away.
Changes
As always please observe that changes might occur although this is not currently expected.
Conclusion
I very much look forward to receiving the confirmations on your participation and even more to a hopefully wonderful cricket week in England – which is after all the home of cricket.
Membership of DANSK XL
I remind you all to pay the membership fee for 2025 which was fixed at the general meeting in Herning in September 2024 at DKK 500 (it still says DKK 300 on the website, but this is outdated and will be corrected).
As you know, it is a condition for playing on any of DANSK XL’s teams that you have paid your membership fee, and in my book you have ‘always got a lot for your money’ on that point.
I would therefore ask you all to pay DKK 500 to Dansk XL’s bank account no later than 31 March 2025, which is as follows:
